After working over 1 year in Malawi, our first trip back
home was a welcome break! They say the first year is always the hardest! A completely
new workplace, culture and environment, coupled with starting two new
departments at the hospital: cardiology and ICU. With no other cardiologist in
the country, and no other physician to help in the ICU I really needed a break!
And assistance! We are very excited that there is another missionary doctor
joining the team: Dr Saunders, Infectious Disease specialist. He arrived the
same day we left. On the same plane actually. So we didn’t get to meet until
after our annual leave back to the US. We made arrangements to close the ICU
and cardiology clinic until Dr Saunders was settled in and ready to open them
up.
Tiffany's family & friends hosted a welcome party for us!
At home in Feb it was still winter…enjoying the snow and
seeing old friends. Did a little moonlighting at the VA to keep up my
Cardiology skills in a fully equipped hospital. Also, visited with Darryl’s
family and mine. We went to a Red Dress event for heart health awareness!
And gave some updates on our progress.
Then spent some time with family and friends.
What a nice break!!!
